You don’t need to physically be outside to feel the sense of freedom that the great outdoors offers, as unlike conventional sliding doors they fold completely back to bring outside much closer to your living space indoors.

When bi-fold doors are open they take up very little space meaning they cause virtually no disturbance to your home’s natural flow. Unlike patio doors, which must slide behind another window or door, bi-fold doors collapse back on themselves, allowing for a more complete breakdown of the barrier between the interior and exterior of your property, and offering the benefit of opening up your wall completely.

They also come in a range of setups – so you could choose to have five or six panels or three larger ones, for example, depending on your space. Similarly there are also different arrangements to choose from, including the classic bi-fold ‘concertina’ of panels which open from one side of the door frame to the other, or ‘French fold’ designs which consist of two concertinas which meet in the middle.

Sliding doors, given that they need to slide over one another, don’t come with compressible seals on the top and bottom making them more prone to allowing cold air inside.
